Introduction

Hello! Over the years I have become increasingly fascinated by children's literature. I could easily spend hours in the children's section of a bookstore and buy dozens of books every month from those classic Scholastic Book Orders. Reading literature for children and adolescences is only half the fun for me. I really enjoy going to the next level of understanding and appreciating this form of literature intended for such a unique audience. Engaging in academic discussions and reading related articles that relate to children's literature really interests me. I look forward to exploring certain elements of adolescent literature over the course of my last semester at MSU. I am especially interested in looking at the use of language in the text and how children and adults use language in conversations and their own writing. I am particularly concerned with how people approach using or not using "politically correct" terms.
Overall, I am excited to develop my knowledge and understanding (and personal library!) of quality, diverse children's literature. Within the next few years, hope to be sharing quality literature with my future deaf and or hard of hearing elementary aged students.
